Spectre Opening

James Bond Opening
The opening in the James Bond movies have always fascinated me as a kid. They’re very imaginative and surreal with strange visuals and I wanted to capture that in this project. To be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of James Bond, I don’t really get it. But the openings always wowed me and made me want to make one of my own. Now picking which Bond movie to make an opening for took a long time, so many choices, but I ended up choosing Spectre. It wasn’t a very good movie or opening. But I did find an unused Radiohead song that was supposed to be used for the film. After hearing it and seeing how haunting it was, I decided to go with an opening for Spectre.

Inspiration
Seeing how haunting and dramatic the song “Spectre” was by Radiohead. I knew I wanted to go with a more Noir, black and white look, with heavy contrast. Playing with light and shadow, simulating a ghostly, haunting feel. My main inspiration for the opening, not just the look but also the feel, was the photography of Ralph Gibson. My second inspiration was the look of Sin City the movie. With high contrast between light and dark, with a splash of colour.
Final Video
In the final video I tried to use a lot of flowing slow movements with the objects and titles. The song “Spectre” is a very melodic, haunting song, so I used a lot of silhouettes and smokey figures. The moving scenes, which I used a rotoscope function in After Effects, I deliberately chose ones that had slow, melodic movements, which I tried to match to the music.
