Optico is a condensed font that I built, meant for industrial use at small sizes. Use cases being battery labels, warning signs, instructions on schematics, or even metallic signs on buildings. The target demographic for this font is engineers or architects using AutoCAD or other software making schematics and circuit diagrams. The font is meant to be readable at small sizes and usually used for instructions or warning signs.
The font was inspired by the metal warning signs on construction sites or the labels on power conduits. The superfluous and often ignored pieces of type that I find worth exploring. Also the early photography work of the late great David Lynch was a big inspiration, with the shots of abandoned industrial factories. I wanted to make a very stark and industrial font that you could find in an abandoned factory.
